Let me clear: no one is trying to defend Cologne’s rapists and no one is trying to minimize what happened, because what happened is terrifying and all the rapists should be convincted. What I, personally, am sick of, is the exploitation of violence against women by racist and xenophobic groups and people to justify and endorse their anti-immigration standpoint. Where are you when underage girls are exploited for sex tourism? Where are you when “your women” are harassed and raped by your fellow countrymen? Where are you when migrant women are victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation? What I’m saying is — Cologne’s rapists must be convincted for their actions. They must be. And there should be a serious debate about integration and how to achieve it. But you’re not a supporter of women’s rights if they only serve your racist agenda.
